How long have you lived in Southern California?
I’ve lived in many areas of Los Angeles all my life.
What impact, if any, do you feel living in Southern California has had on your writing?
I think that having grown up in such a diverse place, I’ve developed a keen taste for variety — not the manic indulgence in things that are “other” for the sake of difference or “finding” oneself, but a basic recognition of my own multicultural, L.A. roots. I love the patchwork spirit of this place; my writing is naturally impacted by it.
